Augustmuni is situated on the banks of Mandakini River in Rudraprayag at an elevation of 1000 mts above the sea level. Augustmuni is known as the place where Rishi Agastya meditated for several years. There is Agasteshwar Mahadev Temple which is dedicated to the Rishi is also known for its architecture. Tourists visiting Augustmuni temple can see the carvings of Gods and Goddesses on the stones. During Baisakhi a large fair is organised here and devotees from different parts take part in large number to pay devotion to God.

Badrinath

Badrinath is one of the most important pilgrim centre of the country. It is a part of sacred 'Char Dhams' of the State. It is flanked by Nar and Narayan mountains, while the Neelkanth Peak forms a splendid backdrop.
The Shri Badrinathji temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu was established by Adi Shankaracharya and later built by the rulers of Garhwal about two centuries ago. It can be divided into three partsthe Garbha, the Darshan Mandap and Sabha Mandap. The principal idol carved out of black stone represents meditating Lord Vishnu.

Baijnath, which is 26k kms away is a historical and pilgrim site on Gwaldam motor road is set on the banks of river Gomti in Katyuri valley. It was once the capital of Katyuri dynasty and the ancient temples here stand in testimony of the erstwhile era. The ancient Shiva temple here is famous for the magnificent idol of Goddess Parvati. Another important shrine is the Kotkimai temple, 8 kms from here.

Binsar is a beautiful, small town located at an altitude of 2,480 mts above sea level. It is about 114 kms. from Pauri. There is a temple in Binsar which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is of great archaeological importance. The central room of the temple is beautifully decorated by the idols of Ganesh, Gauri and Mardini. Binsar is surrounded by beautiful and dense forest of Oak, Deodar and Rhodendron.

Chandrabani

Situated 7 Kms from Dehradun on the Dehradun-Delhi road is the famous temple of Chandrabani. Legend has it that spot was inhabited by Maharishi Gautam, his wife and daughter Anjani who are widely worshipped by the people. It is believed that the Goddess Gahad manifested herself on this spot which is now popularly known as the Gautam Kund. Every year devotees from various parts of the world come and take a dip in the holy Kund. 2 Kms away from the main road, located in the midst of Shivalik hills, the place is a beautiful tourist spot.
